    Acol is one of the smallest communities in Kent, near to Manston Airport. The village’s name comes from Acollt which goes back to old English, the word ac for oak and holt for wood. It has a fine gothic-style church dedicated to St. Mildred and it is reputed the village is haunted by Smuggler Bill.
